Long-term WCGHS resident Mao came to us in December 2012 after she was surrendered to a local vet hospital to be euthanized due to a severe eye injury. The hospital instead removed her injured eye and we agreed to take her in. Because she is a little shy and a senior with a disability, she was continually overlooked by adopters, but last week our Board president was having dinner with friends where she mentioned Maos plight and how this 11-year old half-blind kitty really needed a home after almost 2 years of shelter life. Even though we do our best for all animal guests at our shelter, a shelter is not a home. One of the friends expressed interest in Mao, came to meet her on Saturday, and by that afternoon Mao had settled into a quiet room and a comfy bed for the beginning of her new life.
