Long trip to Winston-Salem yesterday for the 8-dog TD test today. I managed to draw track 8 so Skiffle had a very long wait to run his track. Saw some outstanding work done while we waited. Three dogs had passed before we ran. His field had a look of stick stubble on it and hes been on that type of field in training. He doesnt like it, but he works. Hes a deep nose tracker and the stubble interferes with that and, hes short! So the height of the stubble also made it a bit of a challenge. He started out like gangbusters and when on grassy cover, was just motoring along. When he hit the stubble areas, his head came up and he tried to find ways around it and then went back to work when he got back on grass. Got to the third turn and he went the wrong way, trying to avoid stubble. Put back on the track, he finished up very well and was quite pleased with himself when he found the glove. Much to like about his work. The Winston-Salem Dog Training Club has outstanding hospitality. Great tracklayers. Very very nice site. A nice day. And it only took 7 1/2 hours to make a 5 1/2 hour drive coming home
