Longer Range Outlook.... The God awful pattern we have been stuck in most of this winter is finally breaking down and if you like winter strorms in the mid Atlantic this is a great sign. This forecast comes with decent confidence as there is unusual model agreement in the 7-15. Day range. First beginning next week there ll be a major ridge off the west coast that will help funnel below normal temperatures into most of the lower 48, esp east of the Rockies, 2nd the pacific jet stream will become active funneling energy into the southwest, 3rd a decent chance of some type of blocking that will lock in cold temperatures with the arrival of energy from the southwest. Without getting into too much weather nerd talk the ingredients will be on the table for a good chance of winter weather along the east coast from the last week in January through at least early to mid February. Attached are images of recent runs of the Canadian, Euro, and Gfs regarding a possible storm late next week. Notice how similar they are even at 9-10 days out.
