Look, I hate being grouchy in the morning, but while experiments - TopicsExpress

Look, I hate being grouchy in the morning, but while experiments like this are interesting and its fascinating to see the variety of appearances that results, the number of people who then go on to assume that photoshop by a person from country X = beauty norms of country X is a bit worrisome.... Theres millions of inhabitants in any given country. Of course what I do and say is a bit reflective of the country I grew up in (in my case, OK, its a bit complicated because it mixes France/diaspora Vietnam and a bit of British/US). But Id never go ahead and say that its characteristic or emblematic of French beauty standards/cultural values. Why would it be? Im just one person. (and yeah, Im half-and-half too. This makes me a bit ill at ease because it plays into the prevalent narrative of its *so* difficult to fit in when youre half-and-half aka, OMG, youll always be torn between the two sides of your heritage. Not speaking for all biracials here, obviously). huffingtonpost/2014/09/08/priscilla-yuki-wilson-different-countries-photoshop_n_5775200.html
