Look, I have mixed feelings on the current scene of all the police brutality videos. On one side, I know that police have a tough job AND put their lives on the line every day. On the other hand, I see a disturbing trend legislatively moving from basic principles of liberty such as innocent until proven guilty and for there to be a crime, there must be a victim. In addition, there are cases, such as this one, where the evidence pretty clearly shows some police offices use force when not justified and even when there is no reason to suspect a crime. I completely support any law enforcement individual that is doing his or her job and properly respects the rights of all individuals involved. I do not support individuals that use a position of power to violate the rights and even life and limb of public individuals. These kind of scenarios are much a crime as a mugging would be and should be punished as such. Not only for the benefit of the public, but also for the benefit of officers that are trying to wear their hats properly, as actions like this create an atmosphere of distrust of law enforcement and place honest cops at greater risk.
