Look, Im sorry, but the American revolution wasnt all that heroic. A handful of businessmen whose industries were heavily taxed fought to advance their own interests. They certainly did not believe that All Men are Created Equal, as most of the founding fathers were slaves owners who established a system that assured only their class would get the vote (Rich, white, landowning, men). They realized that they personally did not have to be in power to get what they want, they just had to be friends with people in power. So they decided they didnt need a totalitarian state. Plus democracy plays pretty well with a crowd. They used emotional and ideological rhetoric to get sway the public to support a war that was ultimately about money. In that respect, I guess the American Revolution does embody the spirit of America.
