Look! More ‘LOOK’ road markings and ‘Give way to Pedestrians’ signs are coming to locations near you, improving road safety for all road users. We’re been conducting pilot trials for these unique ‘LOOK’ road markings at 4 locations since 2012, and 90% of pedestrians surveyed felt that these road markings are a great friendly reminder to look out before crossing. And that’s why we’ll be placing the friendly pairs of ‘eyes’ at many more locations - 90 zebra crossings in school zones and 150 zebra crossings at 10 locations with a high proportion of seniors. We’re also going to put up ‘Give Way to Pedestrians’ signs at signalised junctions in 6 locations to provide better contrast and visibility to motorists, and to remind motorists to be more vigilant of crossing pedestrians when turning right. The works for these projects have already started, and will be completed in the first quarter of 2015 for the ‘Give Way to Pedestrians’ and ‘LOOK’ signs at locations with high proportion of seniors. ‘LOOK’ signs at school zones will be ready by fourth quarter 2015.
