Look at your dogs. Think how much you love them and how - TopicsExpress

Look at your dogs. Think how much you love them and how devastated you’d be if you were to ever lose them. They have collars on, a tag with their details and have been chipped too, right? Do you know that if your dog was involved in an accident on our roads or railways, that none of that would make a difference? The Highways Agency will not call you if they find your dog deceased. Neither will they scan for a microchip, to let you, the dog warden, or the chipping company kno...w that your dog has been found. They don’t even have to properly record the incident, so even if you call them they will probably tell you that ‘there are no recorded incidents involving a dog’. Can you imagine days and nights of searching despairingly not knowing where your little one was? The Highways Agency have already been issued with microchip scanners, so there is absolutely no excuse not to properly document and scan our deceased pets. Harvey Law has been set up in order to bring these issues to public attention and try to enforce The Highways Agency to carry out : • Compulsory scanning of all domestic animals retrieved from the highways. • Log report filed and circulated to both Police and Dog Warden. • Photographs of the deceased to be held with the log report to be used for identification purposes. At present there are only ‘guidelines’ regarding deceased pets that the Highways Agency are supposed to follow. These guidelines are not only being ignored, they are being phased out of Highway Agency policies altogether by this summer. We can’t let this happen. These guidelines need to be made law. Please sign and share the Harvey’s Law E-petition below. Don’t let our beloved pets continue to be disregarded like bags of rubbish by the roadside. Anyone over the age of 12 can sign, but please remember to verify your email.
