Look look at the service provided by private Indian airlines. This time it is 60 passengers in similar situation like me missing my international flights and finally landing in Melbourne simply because of the generosity of a kind friend here, who took personal responsibility to help me return to continue my studies here. I have flown around the world in the past 9 years, especially as an international student on economy class everywhere, but never experienced such sheer lack of accountability and lack of corporate social responsibility. Is this the example of a rising superpower? (Sorry for making unequal comparison but I am sick of hearing accolades about superpowers of the world. Once while I was flying for a conference, Southwest airlines in the US arranged for an entire flight of passengers stay in a nearby hotel served dinner and breakfast as flights were delayed due to bad weather and gave us a compensation domestic ticket equivalent to the price of the ticket for another domestic flight valid for a year even after making all arrangements for us to reach our destination next day. Now Indian airlines might not put passengers in 5 star hotels and serve breakfast & dinner, give promotional t-shirts but at least they can ensure passengers reach their destination if their flights are delayed for whatever reasons- technical snag or weather. Not to mention even domestic flight tickets within India are very expensive. Sometimes they are equivalent to international flights to countries like Singapore and the taxes are also very high as flying is still considered a privilege, a luxury within India, as the country is still home of the poorest millions of the world. But, does that mean those who have comparative privilege to fly should be cheated out of their money (in my case it is hard-earned student scholarship money) by those who have making profit out of the private aviation business?????????
