Look, the problem is that many of us only consider these hard questions when something tragic or when emotionally driven--at other times most people are just intellectually lazy. I am not against any specific religion, I am against faith. If faith and reason conflict, one must give way to the other. One must grow at the expense of the other. They are in mortal combat for your soul. Reason and faith are completely incompatible. Faith is the destroyer of reason. It takes particular ideas and divorces them from reality and from reason. If you accept something on faith, you are essentially saying that you will take it off of the table with regards to reason, and treat it how you feel like treating it. Wherever faith goes, reason is pushed out. And if some of you think that I am only peddling this as result of tragic event in Sydney---that is probably your faith tricking you again, I consider questions like these almost every day as a matter of habit. I do not share them here in Facebook all the time because I have clear evidence (number of likes and even more compelling via data from courtesy of Facebook Page Insight) that of the limited things that I can offer to, half-naked photos are better received. I draw your attention my post on Ayn Rand over the weekend even before all these happened.
