Look, this is the reductionism which gets it all wrong. And It is not the brain versus the body to begin with. But it is not that mind is in the bacteria of the gut, it means that the gut is more than bacteria. That the gut is much more than what we now understand as gut but that the gut is the Self, and thus underlies both mind states and stomach. The self is at the core of it all. Without self (quantum) in our models of the macro level of reality we are totally blind. The meaning and deeper dimension of the body is totally lost in this reductionistic approach. The ocean is in the drop. Everything is self and thus also psychic. The Cartesian split between psyche and body is perhaps the most crucial mis-construal of reality in the history of western culture. So we are in western culture navigating reality according to a complete dysfunctional reality map.
