Look what Israel did to this 7 year old Palestinian schoolchild Shoks Mnisi Mzolo – Cii News | 11 September 2014/16 Dhul Qa’dah 1435 Apartheid and Nazism apologists inside and outside Israel often harp on the Zionist state’s right to self-defence. That’s presumably against rockets from the likes of Hamas and Islamic Jihad, which they designate as terrorist. The Israeli Defence Force (IDF), whose relentless terror against subjugated Semitic Palestinians harks to the era of savagery, has – in the face of its naked brutality and holocaust – been presented as the heroes by the global media. The International Solidarity Movement (ISM), whose member, Rachel Corrie, a human rights activist, was crushed to death by the IDF in 2003 for opposing house demolitions, sees through this well-choreographed but poor fiction. The same forces recently took more than 2,100 lives (mostly civilian) in Gaza. Five hundred of those casualties were children. World governments, barring South America, continued as if it was business as usual with, notably, North America and Europe inexplicably absolved Israel. Again, apartheid and Nazism Israeli apologists and defenders will turn a blind eye or even blame this week’s terror on young Palestinians in Hebron’s Al-Khalil. As usual, global leaders – ignoring the voices of denunciation on the ground – will find no reason to condemn or isolate Tel Aviv for atrocities against the conquered Semites. This leaves the psychologically-traumatised Palestinians, of all ages, to resort to, say, throwing stones at the IDF to express their opposition to the occupation status quo. “What it looked like, form our perspective, the soldiers – around 10 of them – had been hiding, so they were prepared to come in and arrest these young people. Around 20 minutes (before school started)… 20 [IDF] soldiers ran down from the checkpoint and where they had been hiding – where only a few stones had been thrown,” ISM’s activist Selja Haralbson told Sabahul Khair. The soldiers who had been hiding close to the Salaymeh checkpoint were joined by another 10 of their colleagues who man the border. “They ran down and they grabbed this little child and carried him really violently,” remarked Haralbson of the Oday Rajabi, a seven-year-old, ordeal. “His little Spiderman bag is tangled around his head, he’s crying, he’s terrified.” Oday was terrorised while crossing an apartheid checkpoint en route to school in Hebron. He, explained Haralbson, was dragged violently and illegally detained for 40 minutes. His 12-year-old fellow Palestinian, Yousef Hajajreh, also bore the brunt of the IDF’s ambush at Salaymeh. The soldiers, ignoring pleas from onlookers and human rights activists, then pounced on a school teacher for trying to stop them from arresting Oday. Malak Salaymeh, another civilian Palestinian who works as an assistant, was also detained. “The young assistant, the 18-year-old, that was arrested, they took him, basically, when he was trying to ask them: ‘Why do you have to arrest children here? What are you doing? They don’t listen to anyone,” Haralbson told Cii listeners. As if this naked act of terror – set to leave deep psychological scars – was not alarming, the IDF threw grenades and fired tear gas canisters towards other school children of indigenous Palestinian ethnicity. “The Palestinians here have to face constant harassment both from settlers and soldiers,” the ISM activist said of the Al-Khalil and Hebron, now home to Israeli settlers imported from across Israel as part of Tel Aviv’s displacement project – an initiative championed by Theodor Herzl a right winger. It is bizarre, added the ISM activist, that Palestinian children – including those in Hebron, an occupied town in the West Bank Bantustan – are forced to pass through checkpoints to get to school and back everyday. Such is the extent of occupation, one of the reasons the people of Palestine continue to fight the Tel Aviv regime. It is a sad but sobering irony that 2014, which saw the Netanyahu administration (which, living up to Ze’ev Jabotinsky’s theories, denies Palestinian existence) unleashing extreme terror in Ramadhan, was declared by the United Nations as the year of solidarity with the people of Palestine. Talk is cheap. Israel’s terrorism, occupation and subjugation of indigenous Palestinians continue unabated.
