Look within. Within is the fountain of good, and it will ever bubble up, if thou wilt ever dig. -- Marcus Aurelius, Roman emperor Friday night was the Christmas program for my two oldest granddaughters. Rebekah, the oldest, had confided in me that she was nervous because she had a fairly large speaking part. She told me that she was an old lady in the play. Emma told me that she was a dancer. Emma had a part in a song about joy where it encouraged that Joy is spelled - Jesus, Others, Yourself…and if you could learn that sequence you would find JOY! Rebekahs role was as the head mistress at a mission. Her demeanor was so full of love and patience and kindness. She had a song that she sang. I honestly could not tell you the words because when she began, I was entranced with her voice. It was like soft drops of rain or the soft sound of a harp. It was beautiful. Every note was on key and her face was a wreath of warmth. If she was nervous, you sure could not tell it. Grandpa and I were so proud! Rebekah had a song inside her that I had never heard. I think everyone does. We keep it in out of fear or unwillingness to be critiqued. I am so glad that Rebekah sang her song. May we be brave enough to sing ours as well. Psalm 42:8New International Version (NIV) 8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me— a prayer to the God of my life
