Looking Back June 2008. Trade in Long Eaton town centre has suffered another blow with the news that Sandras Cafe is to close. The cafe, formerly known as the Rendezvous, is the listed building within York Chambers in the Market Place, and has been a restaurant for 60 years. The cafe which is to close soon according to the proprietor Sandra McLean will be the fourth business to close in Long Eaton in the past few months. Mrs McLean prides herself on her home made pies and cooked meats, and has been running her business which is a favourite with pensioners for 16 years. but she has decided to call it a day partly blaming a drop in business and the smoking ban.
