Looking East on Third Avenue from approximately Third and Tyler. Cars are angled against the curb in front of the Amarillo Hotel, the building at the right hand side of the photograph. Polk Street separates the Amarillo Hotel and the Amarillo Building, the large building in the middle left of the photo. The last building seen on the far left is the Hotel Palo Duro. The side of the hotel runs along Third Avenue but the entrance to the Hotel Palo Duro was located at 300-2 Fillmore Street. Today, in 2006, the headquarters of the Maxor National Pharmacy Services Corporation take up the space where the Amarillo Hotel once stood. The Hotel Palo Duro is long gone and in its place is a parking lot for the Amarillo Police Department building, which stands at the corner of Third and Taylor. Only the Amarillo Building still stands. The photograph dates from 1925 or later. The north tower of the Amarillo Building, that seen in the photograph, was completed in 1925
