Looking ahead to the future, Garland ISD recently conducted a facilities assessment to identify needed repairs, renovations and building projects. Huckabee and Associates inspected every district building last fall. They also spoke with school and department leaders about current limitations and long-term aspirations. GISD’s facilities assessment will now be used to discuss a potential bond election. If one is called, it would fund some of the identified items. Before they make their decision, GISD Trustees would like to hear from district stakeholders about what they would support and what they would like to fund. The public is invited to a forum Tuesday, Feb. 4, in the Naaman Forest High School auditorium, beginning at 6:30 p.m. During the meeting, the district will share Huckabee’s findings in an effort to keep everyone informed of factual information, dispelling false rumors such as the tearing down of Garland High School.
