Looking at the calendar, I was blown away by the fact that yesterday was six months since Reillys attack. Other than the catch in his step, the odd reaction to things, and fear of having his belly rubbed, youd never know anything had happened to look at him. Many dogs Ive seen still bear visible scars and fears after something like this at six months, but Reilly OHooligan...if I hadnt seen it with my own eyes, done the wound care and feedings and medications myself, I would not believe it was the same dog. The only explanation I can make is the skill of the staff at REACH and Avery Creek Pet Hospital, and power of the love of the Corgi Nation. He literally would not be here today without you. In this time before Thanksgiving when people are posting things theyre thankful for, I am thankful for the greatest gift I have ever received - my childs life, and the friendship and support of so many who helped pull him back from the brink. Thank you from the bottom of my heart - youll never know how much it means to me to see that rakish smile and hear that insistent bark, or watch those eyes bug out when ice cream and bacon appear.
