We bake from scratch in small batches using ingredients from small, artisanal producers who share the same philosophy of using locally sourced ingredients and take great care to create their products. Along with traditional pastries, cakes, and cookies, we will be serving some breakfast and lunch items as well as interesting and unique house-made ice cream sodas, malts, and more. We are looking for people who care about serving the community with great customer service and who enjoying being in an upbeat, creative, and pleasant environment. The small scale of our shop offers an opportunity to gain a lot of hands-on experience. We have several openings and are looking to hire a staff that shares our mission and passion for baking. Candidates must know English, have own transportation, work well in a fast-paced environment, be able to work well with others, and generally be a self-starter with a good attitude. Assistant Pastry Chef/Pastry Sous-Chef Pastry Assistant Pastry diploma from culinary school or equivalent work experience required 1-2 years professional kitchen experience in scratch baking Responsible for production baking, scaling and mixing batters and all doughs from scratch, forming tarts, croissants, brioche, and cookies assembling cakes and finishing as well as testing recipes, cleaning, and providing general assistance to the pastry chef. Abilities in cake decorating—building and finishing cakes in buttercream, working with gum paste, modeling chocolate, and fondant. Dedicated to making a consistently excellent product. Ability to create and work in small spaces, keep work area/s clean and orderly, and some dishwashing etc. and maintaining cleanliness of the kitchen Ability to follow recipes and instruction as well as troubleshoot if necessary Ambitious motivated and a self-starter Exceptional attention to detail and good communication skills Excellent time management and organizational skills Opportunities to develop new recipes and try out ideas.
