Looking for authors to write about community initiatives engaging with food and resources security / access / justice. New Community Journals upcoming issue is on food / resource access and social justice. We want to hear about the incredible works that community gardeners are undertaking to positively challenge the large corporations and bring food and resources back into local and community hands. Wed love to hear the histories / stories / philosophies / structures and organisation of community gardens (and any other community groups that are challenging the wider structural control of food / resources) people are involved with and share them with a wider audience. Also, if you have any contacts in the wider community of community groups that are doing great work in establishing food / resource security, we would appreciate the tips in the right direction - send them our way!...or if you would pass these details on to them, that would be great. Here is the details for the CALL FOR ARTICLES for the upcoming issue: Resource and Food Access & Social Justice Volume 13, #1, issue 49 Submissions due: March 2 2015 Powerful people controlling power-filled companies have had a major effect on the way resources are accessed and distributed to citizens. There is reason to believe that corporations hold more power than government bodies, or at least, hold strong influence over the decision-making by governments regarding resources. The obsession of the food industry with cheap, chemicalised and industrial methods of production has many negative effects on human and environmental health. With climate change predictions looking dire for their effect on healthy resources, we need to ensure that everyone can fairly continue to access them. How can communities redress the imbalance of power for achieving fair access to basic resources? How can processes of resource management be looked after so that the health of the environment, humans (and other sentient beings) is considered in an ecological and care-filled way? What community led projects are already showing us alternative and hope-filled models for the future? New Community journal is seeking writers to critically reflect on the community responses to resource and food access and social justice.
