Looking for public input: Re-Use Shed at the Smithers/Telkwa transfer station. - In October RDBN Board motioned that all the Re-Use sheds at RDBN transfer stations be closed. A second motion was passed that postponed the closures until the community could be consulted. Many gave great feedback on a Facebook post by Smithers Mayor Taylor Bachrach. - I would like to invite people who are concerned and interested in the Re-Use shed to the following meetings: 1. This first meeting will be for those interested in actively working towards a solution. It is not to give general feedback. People attending this meeting will also commit to attending the 3 other meetings. We will: • Develop an action plan for getting more community feedback that specifically addresses the concerns of both RDBN staff, transfer station staff, as well as public concerns. We will recognize all concerns as legitimate and work from there. • Develop an action plan for recruiting people who would like to commit time to helping come up with a solution. The solution may to work towards keeping the swap shed open, or it could be to change how, when, where, or even if it operates. • Look at current feedback from the community. • Time: December 2 from 5:00 – 6:00 pm. • Place: Smithers Town Hall, Newpro Room 2. The second meeting will to get feedback from the community. (mid Jan) 3. The third meeting will be to develop recommendations to the RDBN Board, including the roll of the community and community accountability if applicable. (late January) 4. The fourth meeting will be to create an action plan based on RDBN feedback and decision. - If you are interested in working towards the solution then please contact me about getting together on Dec 2nd. - If you are just interested in giving feedback please stayed tune for how.
