Looking for some help from Mechanics or Auto Engineers. Im reaching out to see if anyone knows about cars. We bought a brand new 2014 Honda Odyssey in March this year. In June and July of this year we experienced the complete failure (both of the engine and all electronic systems - including power steering and brakes) while driving at 110 km/h on the Hume Highway between Sydney and Melbourne. This failure occurred three times, and each time we were driving with our children. We’ve taken the car back to the Honda dealership and told them what happened. They’ve tested it, but as with the Volkswagen cars that have been failing, they have not been able to find a fault code. So they require us to take the car back as is. Naturally, we wouldnt put our kids lives at risk, so weve asked for a workable solution: repair, replace or refund, or some other solution that would help us to have confidence in the car and put our young family back in the car. The solution that Honda Australia have given is ...to instruct Honda Australias Technical Department have authorised a PCM, Main Relay 1, Ignition Coil Relay and a PGM-FI Sub Relay to be replaced from a known working vehicle. I just dont know what that means. And Honda have given me 12 hours to decide if the car is safe. Do any Facebook friends know a mechanic or engineer that could tell us if this is a satisfactory solution? Do you know? Do you think that those parts would have caught the problem? Tag people if you want. PM if you want. Thanks! Justin.
