Looking for units for winter quarter that will really make a difference? Tutor-mentors needed to work with students in Pescadero! Come to the first meeting of Merrill Colleges Classroom Connections, Tuesday, January 6, 7-8:45 PM, in Crown 208 Merrill College is seeking UCSC students to tutor/mentor high school and middle school students (mostly Mexican immigrants) in math, science, English, and social studies through the College Readiness After School Program at Pescadero High School. The program runs 3-5 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. (Mentors leave campus at 2 PM and return at 6 PM.) We are also seeking Spanish-speaking classroom aides for Pescadero Elementary School grades pre-K through 5, from 9-11:30 AM Tuesdays and Thursdays. (Aides leave campus at 8 AM and return at 12:30 PM.) Transportation to and from Pescadero is provided in a UCSC van. Students enroll in Merrill Colleges Classroom Connection (Merr 85B) for 3 units of academic credit (P/NP) and General Education credit for the PR-S. (May be repeated for credit.)
