When we are born again our spirits are made perfect. Our souls (our mind, will and emotions) are all being saved progressively as we come to know Jesus in a personal and intimate way and learn to yield to His working within us. God is a heart God and He is ever at work within our hearts, inviting us into the blessedness of a life filled with peace and joy as we walk out our inheritance - the gift we have received - which is the righteousness of God in Christ. The full spectrum of enjoying our righteousness is only experienced to the degree we allow these truths that are resident in our human spirits to invade our souls. Paul said it like this: It is a reason for pride and exultation to which our conscience testifies that we have conducted ourselves in the world [generally] and especially toward you, with devout and pure motives and godly sincerity, not in fleshly wisdom but by the grace of God (the unmerited favor and merciful kindness by which God, exerting His holy influence upon souls, turns them to Christ, and keeps, strengthens, and increases them in Christian virtues).
