Looking forward to seeing mom today. So heres a story she shared that demonstrated how unique she is: Our old friend was cremated. We gathered at the tray containing his ashes, ready to collect the ashes into a tall urn. The priest came in with a long rod, and a small shovel. His instructions are that we carefully collect ashes from the feet, then torso, then head. That way, he told us, our friend would be collected whole from head to toe in the correct order inside the urn. So we spent considerable time filling up the urn with the shovel. When the urn was almost filled, we saw that there were a few pieces of semi-complete bones still on the tray. We asked the priest what to do. He took the long rod, and used it as a hammer to smash the bones into pieces. Then he told us to put the smashed pieces into the urn. I almost giggled. Because those pieces are from his legs, torso and hands too. So, if what the priest said was true, then our friend is now walking with parts of his hands and legs on the top of his head. The story is macabre, yet hilarious, but mom was never the traditional kind of girl. She has a vivid imagination and an incredible wit about her. Im so proud I got those attributes from her. Cant wait to see mom today. :)
