Looking into the week ahead, we kick start things with a speech by - TopicsExpress

Looking into the week ahead, we kick start things with a speech by Mario Draghi on the welfare of the Eurozone in a press conference and ECB speech on Monday evening. Shortly following this is a speech by Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, who will be under pressure to clarify the UK’s situation on interest rate speculation. The Governor, who has had to defend his £874,000 salary package, is being followed closely city investors and banking establishments for any hint or indication of the much anticipated UK interest rate rise. This seems to be the hot topic at the moment as an interest rate rise typically strengths an economy and currency. That being said I would not be at all surprised if Carney pour’s cold water on any speculation on a rise before 2015. Should this be the case, we would likely see a retraction on the recent gains the pound has seen against the Euro.
