Looking out the window at a thriving row of prized heirloom - TopicsExpress

Looking out the window at a thriving row of prized heirloom tomatoes, I appreciate my rural, woodland home. The only thing missing is looking outside to see horses in a pasture. For most of my life, 50 years as of next month, there have been horses to care for; Sunday or holiday, their lives go on along with the constant needs of the species. I left the industry years ago, but I still get sucked into the fringes at times. A conversation at a farm store belonging to friends. A phone call from someone we used to work with, trying to reach a mutual friend who is skilled as farrier and blacksmith. Then again, sometimes I step outside at night, clean wind on my face, and wonder where it all went. Horses are a lifetime addiction, it seems, and there seems to be no cure at all for the compulsion.
