Looks like my medical battles will increase ... I have slowly been losing the ability to walk, stand, sit, sleep .... (nothing important, mind you) because of pain in my knees. Now that I have insurance, I was able to get to see an orthopedic surgeon yesterday to find out what can be done. At the age of 55, it appears I have worn out my knees ... in fact the doctor says he doesnt see how I can be walking at all ... I not sure that you would call what I do walking - more like a very slow waddle ... He diagnosed it as late stage arthritis. He gave me a cortisone injection which seemed to provide some relief, but that relief lasted less than 24hrs. Because I have had an infection in one of knees, I have to go see an infection specialist and get their approval before the surgery can be done. Apparently an infection can lay dormant and flare up after a replacement which would mean that the prosthesis would need to come out, a space put in for 6 weeks, and then another prosthesis could be put in after the infection had cleared. If that all failed, I can lose my leg. I also have to have an MRI to make sure the cancer has not moved into the bone before the surgery can be done. And I have to come up with the $6000 deductible that the insurance (wonderful Obamacare) requires me to have. As you all know, my cancer treatments have eaten up any excess funds. Once I meet all that criteria ... after talking to my cancer doctor this morning, I now also know the following ..... Because I am treating my cancer naturally, the knee surgery would be a major setback in that treatment. All the chemicals introduced into the body will have to once again be eliminated from the body. The effects of the radiation from the xrays and the MRI will have to be overcome and eliminated. And I will not be able to go to my treatments for at least 4 weeks after surgery because I will be unable to drive ... another setback. But since I have already missed 1 1/2 weeks of treatments in the last few weeks because I was unable to drive because of the pain ... sometimes I just cannot sit to drive in the car because the pain is excruciating ... if I dont get something done, I may not be able to continue treatment anyway. As you can see, I am between a proverbial rock and a hard place. I ask for your prayers in this regard for provision ... or even better ... a miracle of total healing for the knees and the cancer. Until then, I plan to keep a smile on my face and enjoy all my wonderful friends ... Thanks.
