Loonie rises slightly as oil prices continue to decline, traders await U.S. data The Canadian dollar was slightly higher Tuesday amid a generally weaker American currency and oil prices at a fresh 5 1/2 year low. The loonie added 0.03 of a cent to 86.02 cents US. February crude in New York dropped 32 cents to US$53.29 a barrel. Crude prices are down 50 per cent since their 2014 high of $107.26 in June amid rising supplies and lower demand from weaker economies such as Europe and China. Read more: tmx.mn/1l0b7jkw
