Looted Funds: Police May Declare Saraki Wanted There is strong indication that the operatives of the dreaded Nigerian police force, Special Fraud Unit may declare embattled former governor of kwara state Senator Bukola Saraki this week over allegations of theft, Fraud and money laundry amounting to one thousand dollars. A highly placed security source at the weekend said that the SFU will officially declare the embattled senator wanted if he fails to honour the invitation by the police for the third time. According to the source, the special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian police force are currently through the legal unit to officially arraign Senator Saraki before a federal High court sitting in Abuja over allegations of fraud, money laundering and theft but he is refusing to honour the invitation of the police. The police claim that the embattled senator is allegedly wanted over his role of siphoning a whopping sum of one million dollars in a day to his private account. The police insisted that the former governor of kwara state transferred the said amount of money in his personnel account using foreign currencies that was domiciled in his name. There are several unusual cash inflows into the dollar domiciliary account of Carlislie properties and investment limited by polybags industry (Nig) Ltd. According to the police affidavit, payments of between USD4,500 and USD10,000(8) seperate times in August 24, 2010 amounting to $78,000 was traced to the embattled former governor. The police further added that different individuals like Abdul Adama and Garba Dare were used to launder millions of dollars out of the country. In a counter affidavit deposed to by Jonah Wutu, a police officer attached to the legal/ prosecution section of the force CID Abuja, the police claim that the background investigation revealed that saraki companies were involved in money laundering at various times amounting to over N4 billion. The police counter affidavit was in response to an early one deposed by the embattled senator asking the court from stopping the police from investigating, arresting and prosecuting him over the alleged fraud. In an application filed on the 25 feb,2014 with ref No:FHC/ABJ/05/152/2014 which emanated from Saraki is asking the court for an order of perpetual injunction restraining the police,agents and privies from arresting and prosecuting him.
