In ancient Israel, the Ark of the Covenant was representative of the presence of the Lord. It is believed that is was a box that contained the Torah that Moses received on Mount Sinai. The elders of Israel had sought to use the Ark of the Covenant to ensure a victory. This was not the Lords plan. It was of human origin and of human design. The Philistines captured the Ark of the Covenant in battle and housed it with Dagon, the human-made god of the Philistines. The end results were disastrous for the Philistines as well as for Israelites. The Lord refused to be used and manipulated by the human agenda and at the same time made it clear that there was no equating the presence of the Lord with a human-made god. False gods will ultimately fall on their faces.}
