Lords Day Worship - 11th January 2015 - Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: In consideration of this text about the mind of Christ. The mind is that which analyses and understands everything that is outside of ourselves, as well as what is going on inside of our bodies. Our feelings, emotions, and that which we see, hear, taste, touch and smell, enter into our minds which analyses that same sense experiences out there, and seeks to understand them and put them into some kind of context. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. This is a letter that is concerned about the minds of Christians. ch1:27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; ch2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. ch2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: ch2:20 For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. ch3:15,16 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing. ch4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. These references to the mind exhort us to have minds that are either, or all of that which is ..... - singleminded - exercised in the mind - of a similar mind to Christ When we consider Christ, and His mind, His mind that was omniscient in eternity, exercised and singleminded, and in union with His Father, then we come to understand the mind of Christ a little better in terms of what it cost Him to fashion a Gospel that is indeed good news for sinners like us.
