Example Of Duties · Replaces light bulbs and tubes at Metro facilities · Installs, replaces, troubleshoots, repairs, and cleans lighting related electrical apparatus · Bends, threads, and installs conduit and wiring · In a learning capacity, assists Electricians and Air Conditioning Technicians in the installation and maintenance of complex electrical and climate control equipment · Operates Metro vehicles, including trucks equipped with bucket lifts · Maintains, supports, and promotes a safe work environment while complying with all of Metro’s safety rules, policies, and procedures · Contributes to ensuring that the EEO policies and programs of Metro are carried out Requirements For Employment · 2 years experience performing repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment; or, successful completion of 2 years full-time training or education in basic electrical theory, repair, maintenance, and safety procedures at a recognized trade school or apprenticeship program Knowledge: · Methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures of the electrical trade · Federal, state, and local electrical codes · Lighting phase of modern building construction · Vehicle operation and safety Abilities: · Install and maintain lighting apparatus and wiring · Safely operate a variety of hand tools and power equipment · Read and interpret electrical schematics and construction blueprints for lighting circuits and installations · Follow oral and written instructions · Work at heights up to 40 feet · Lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds · Read, write, speak, and understand English Selection Procedure Applicants who best meet job-related qualifications will be invited to participate in the examination process that may consist of any combination of written, performance, or oral appraisal to further evaluate job-related experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.
