Provide effective onboarding practices throughout the Nurse Residency program by: § supporting the new graduates’ professional development from novice to advanced beginner as described in Benner’s (1984) theoretical model Novice to Expert. § Establishing a standardized and cohesive preceptorship and mentorship process for Nurse Residents so they receive the education, training, and support they need to succeed as members of the Los Robles nursing team. § Providing a solid foundation for the new graduates, with the goal of stress reduction, burnout avoidance, satisfaction, and long-term retention. 2. Create learning strategies and experiences to help the Nurse Resident develop clinical competence, expanded critical thinking capacity, increased organizational commitment, and professional practice behaviors. 3. Utilize the Casey-Fink Graduate Nurse Experience Survey tool at the beginning, mid-point, and end of the Nurse Residency program to identify the stresses and challenges facing the participants, and provide a plan of action to mitigate these negative stressors with the goal of improving retention (Casey, Fink, Krugman, & Propst, 2004). 4. Incorporate Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) competencies into the Nurse Residency Program curriculum that include: § Patient-Centered Care § Teamwork and Collaboration § Quality Improvement § Evidence-Based Practice § Safety § Informatics Accepted candidates will complete 12 weeks orientation with a preceptor as well as attend monthly classes for 1 year. Qualifications Job Qualifications Include: The application must include attachments to the application containing the following information: a. Résumé b. Three Letters of Recommendation (at least one letter from a previous nursing instructor) c. A two-page essay describing your motivation for participating in the program, and explaining what you will bring to the Los Robles nursing team. d. Copy of current RN license e. Official school transcript from a U.S state-approved and accredited nursing program, showing a minimum GPA of 3.0. f. A current American Heart Associatoin Healthcare Provider CPR card, or American Red Cross Professional Rescuer card. g. Must have graduated from nursing school no more than 18 months prior to the start of the Nurse Residency Program. h. The applicant’s portfolio must contain all items listed above to be considered for a position in the Nurse Residency Program. i. The applicants must submit a personal phone number and e-mail address to that the recruiter and the NRP Interview Teams can contact them as needed.
