Lose our Salvation? What? The shedding of His blood was required - TopicsExpress

Lose our Salvation? What? The shedding of His blood was required to pay our debt for sin, then if we were to earn any part of our own salvation though good works to keep it, we would have to shed our own blood. How can a lump of clay keep himself saved, when he had no ability to save himself in the beginning. I know this is simplistic thinking, however, all through the bible God clearly shows His Godhead and power. Those who think they can keep their own salvation after not being able to save themselves in the first place, are blinded and not able to understand salvation because they have never been born again or they are a new believer and confused as I once was. The Lord placed in my heart many years ago the question about my own salvation and gave to me a distinct answer to my question, “can one lose their salvation”, that cannot be refuted. I fear for all those people who will fight to hang onto their heretical views of salvation based on the writings of others. When we think we can work for any part of our own salvation, beginning, middle or end, then we have placed ourselves in the position of a god. How silly to think that we are saved by grace and grace alone, except after salvation when we must attempt to try to keep it. God gets all the glory, if we were able to effect any part of our salvation then we would get some of the glory, that thinking is blasphemous. Is it entirely possible that those who want to believe they have a part in their own salvation, are not wanting to let go of control to God? It is the same thinking that I saw in the Catholic church, the idea that there is Christ on the cross for salvation plus whatever we could do for ourselves by good works. Here are the verses that God gave us to explain His power and our lack of power. Ephesians 1:13-14 “In Him you also [trusted], after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.” Notice this verse says “purchased possession”, we are not purchasing ourselves for salvation, we have been purchased by Christ with His blood. The shedding of His blood was required to pay our debt for sin, then if we were to earn any part of our own salvation though good works to keep it, we would have to shed our own blood. Hebrews 9:22 “And according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.” Christ did not shed His blood only to sit in heaven fitfully worried that it didn’t cover the sin He died for. Nor did He forget to provide for all sin, I see no scripture to indicate that Christ told us to be sure to keep ourselves after His horrific sacrifice. If His sacrifice were not enough and mankind was so wonderful that he could keep himself, then the death of Christ for the remission of sin on that cross would have been a sham. God has kept every promise He has ever made and will continue to keep all that He says. Romans 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God [are] irrevocable. 1 John 3:24 “Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.” In this verse we see that the Spirit of God abides in us, given to us by God. We do not acquire the Holy Spirit by our commands, but by the provision of God, He supplies the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 “In Him you also [trusted], after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,” This verse clearly states that we are sealed, the promise will be kept that God keeps us because He saves us, cleanses us and keeps us. If we were able to cleanse and keep ourselves then there would be no need of God. If I could keep myself after first being saved by grace and grace alone, I could never say “Jesus paid it all.” 2 Corinthians 1:22 “2 Corinthians 1:22 “who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a deposit” Ephesians 5:8 “For you were ONCE darkness, but NOW you are light in the Lord, Walk as children of the light.” We still have a choice after salvation to obey or disobey, but we do not lose our salvation because of it. 1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” Only a child of God has an advocate with the Father, that being the Lord Jesus Christ. If we could be good on our own and always obey the Lord, then we would not need an advocate. The Father looks upon us and sees only His Son in us. God can not look upon sin in any degree, because He is holy, so He sends His Son to live in us as our guarantee that our sins are counted not to us but to Christ’s shed blood. When we do sin the Lord chastens us that we might return to obedience. Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the LORD loves He chastens, And scourges every son whom He receives."” Hebrews 12:8 “But if you are without chastening, of which all have become partakers, then you are illegitimate and not sons.” God has created a family, that family has been bought with His blood, and He loves His children no matter how sinful they become. He hates the sin, but to bring them back to obedience He spanks them as we would spank our children. When we were disobedient as children, our parents disciplined us, but they did not disown us because we were disobedient, they merely retrained us that we might learn to be obedient. Hebrews 12:5 “And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks to you as to sons: "My son, do not despise the chastening of the LORD, Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by Him;” God does not unsave us again if we disobey, He merely redirects us to come under obedience again that we might be useful to Him. Hebrews 6:11 “And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, Hbr 6:12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. Hbr 6:13 For when God made a promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, Hbr 6:14 saying, "Surely blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply you." [fn] Hbr 6:15 And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. Hbr 6:16 For men indeed swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation [is] for them an end of all dispute. Hbr 6:17 Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath, Hbr 6:18 that by two immutable things, in which it [is] impossible for God to lie, we might [fn] have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before [us]. Hbr 6:19 This [hope] we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the [Presence] behind the veil, Hbr 6:20 where the forerunner has entered for us, [even] Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek. It would be a cruel and unjust god who would tell us that we have to keep part of our own salvation by good works and then not tell us which works they were and how big they must be. We are not the "masters of our own fate", when we have become born again. We were given a choice and once that choice occurred then Christ began His Work in us. Ephesians 2:10 "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them."
