Lost 4 Kathy led them back downstairs, but few seconds later, they saw the front door opened and there, Andrew walked in. She gasped in fear, holding her breath. Everyone’s eyes were fixed on him wondering who he was. “Oh my God! I have been looking everywhere for you.” Andrew raised his hands in relief into the air. “You got me so worried Kathy, where have you been?” Kathy watched in confusion and fear. She cupped her hands around her neck as her heart tightened its grip on her. “And who are you sir?” the officer asked. “I’m Andrew, her husband.” he replied. “What!” the officer exclaimed. “I’m sorry; did you say you are Andrew, Kathy’s husband?’” John asked. “Yes, I am.” Andrew answered looking at them all. “I’m sorry, you are?” he asked, staring at John. “My name is Ruth, this is my husband John, and we are friends of Kathy.” Ruth quickly answered. “What is going on here?” Andrew asked, mystified at the scene in his house. “Sir, we are a bit confused here; this lady claimed to have shot you two days ago and here you are.” the officer said, puzzled. “What!” Andrew gasped. “What do you mean she shot me?” he asked looking at everyone. Kathy stood almost behind Ruth fearing to look at him. “You must be mistaken, this is my house, that is my wife.” pointing at Kathy “and no one was shot here, in fact, I have been looking for my wife for two days now. I came home from work and she was nowhere to be found. I was actually about going to the police station to report her missing.” he said. Kathy was confused; everyone looked at her as if she is crazy. She was sure of what happened two days ago. He was shot; they had a big fight and everywhere was in a mess but the whole scene is confusing now. “Ma, do you know this man?” the officer asked, looking straight at Kathy. Kathy looked at the officer, afraid of the fury in Andrew’s countenance. “Yes….” She stammered. “Who is he to you?” the officer asked. “My husband…” she stammered again. “Officer, I am terribly sorry for any misunderstanding. You have to know that my wife has been unwell for weeks now. She has been behaving strangely and having night mares. I spoke to my doctor but he suggested I take her to see a physiatrist.” he said persuasively to the officer. Kathy was becoming furious. Andrew was playing games with her. She couldn’t understand what was happening. “No!” She shouted. “I know what happened. The trigger was pulled; in your chest, and you were shot.” she shouted at him and suddenly moved towards him, struggling to take off the buttons on his shirt. “I know what happened.” she unbuttoned his shirt. The police officer went to hold her back, but Andrew asked him to leave her to it. Kathy continued to struggle with the buttons with trembling hands and the ones she couldn’t take off, she pulled away, just then, his chest was plain before everyone. There was no sign of a bullet wound, not even a scar. She was befuddled; she moved away from him covering her mouth with her hands. She thought she was probably beginning to lose her mind. The room became silent while everyone stood there, staring at her. Please click here to read full story: circlesoflove.co.uk/blog/lost-4
