Lost In Fatherhood Chapter 1: Baby Language Gabby is now - TopicsExpress

Lost In Fatherhood Chapter 1: Baby Language Gabby is now speaking-ish. I am given to understand that the creation of her own language and accent is not unique to her. Most babies do it and as parents we are expected to learn Gabbish. The book we have chosen as a reference is very clear not to correct her as she might clam up from frustration but not to use Gabbish ourselves. The thing is that Gabbish has some better ways if saying things... my favorite being coot instead of coat. I want to use coot! Imagine the following conversation. Fredd: Babez, I need a new coot. Michelle: What? Fredd: I saw a great coot in the mall. I want it! Michelle: You have twelve coots, Fredd. Fredd: No, I have ten and half coots. You wear the grey one all the time and even wore it before I ever did. Michele: You have to let that go! Where is it written that a wife cant wear her husbands coot until he has worn it at least once. Fredd: You also wear my Grumpy coot all the time. Michelle: You are not getting a new coot. Ten coots is enough for any man. You have a long wool coot. You have a short wool coot. You have a rain coot. You have a bomber coot. You even have a motorcycle coot and you dont have a motorcycle. Fredd: So I can get a motorcycle. Michelle: NO! Fredd: How about a bomber? I bet with a bomber on my lawn no one would come soliciting the next great house crap at our door. Michelle: Where are you going to get a bomber? Fredd: Craigslist... Its not like the thing has to fly since I dont have a pilots license. Michelle: No coot. Fredd: It was a father-daughter coot set. Michelle: Okay... you can get Gabby a new coot. ... Then there is he wonderful word kuku meaning cookie, cake, candy, chocolate, ice cream, blueberries, and basically any food that isnt milk or her usual meal food. I think that is also a word I would like to use... just finished dinner at a nice restaurant and we start chanting KUKU! KUKU! KUKU! KUKU! KUKU! Kuku is not to be confused with nummies, which means New! Tasty! Does not rise to the level of kuku but... Lets add it to the rotation between ravioli and quesadilla.
