Lost my temper today while out shopping. We were in Gamestop and a little boy about eight or nine years old was whining and giving his grandfather a hard time about not wanting any of the used games in his price range. The grandpa was patiently explaining that he had X amount of dollars with which to choose a game- he could get a couple of the cheaper ones, or one of the more costly used ones, but not the new ones that cost 40+. The little boy glares at him and says You should get a better job where you can make more money to buy me -new- games! I said Excuse me? I know I didnt hear you just say that to your grandfather - you dont deserve a video game acting like that. When I am outraged, I tend to just blurt things regardless of whether or not they are my business (blame the aspergers). The grandfather said OH, he didnt mean anything by it. And I said that well I wouldnt have spoken like that to my elders when I was a kid, would you have? That kind of entitled douchebaggery needs to be stopped at a young age before the kid grows up to be a total asshole. Im not advocating child abuse or anything, but that kid deserved a beating way more than he deserved a video game when he said that. The child, obviously unused to being corrected by anyone, stared at me in stunned silence then slunk shamedly to the door. The grandfather followed, and no video games were bought for that little brat that I saw. The game stop clerk applauded my efforts and said that he gets kids like that in there all the time, talking shit to their parents, treating the clerks like shit, etc. I didnt mean to get involved, but Im kind of glad I did. This trend of give the child whatever he wants is getting ridiculous.
