Welcome Home Party for Indeya Pries. Sunday Jan. 4th- We officially begin our 21 day fast... Whoop Whoop! As well I wanted to get you all updated on the Sila Church Update... Dear Friends and Supporters of the Sila Church Purchase! Greetings from Thailand, where we are in blissful recovery mode after a busy season of Christmas outreaches! Before we update you about the purchase, we HAVE to tell you about the high light of this month! On Dec. 10th we brought in a ministry team from Phnom Pen, Cambodia to Sila Church to do a Christmas Outreach for the Cambodians we have been working with for the last 3 years. We spent about 2 weeks going to new labor camps, and passing out invitations to every construction site we saw! We drove for miles and miles to find Cambodians, and in the end, we had no idea if 10 people might come, or if 50 would show up! On the 10th at about 2 pm, I got the number of a Cambodian camp in Rayong, a province 2 hours from us. I called this stranger and asked him if he would like to bring 4 friends to this party. I had a friend that would pay for a car. He said yes, then called me right back and asked if he could bring 11 friends! I called my friend who said sure, he would pay for a van. So 12 of them showed up to our party, none of them were believers. After everything was set up, we were praying, and truck after truck filled with Cambodians started to roll in! We were in shock! In the end we had about 110 people who up! The big miracles continued to happen though, when the evangelist gave a call at the end of the night to repent and give their lives to Jesus. Almost everyone stood up and moved to the front! We counted at least 72 people who gave their lives to Christ that night! Then, after everyone sat down, one of the elderly team members, a lady of about 65 years old, got a huge knife from our kitchen. She began to walk through the rows and ask people if they wanted to be free from black magic and evil spirits. She took her knife and cut off dozens of black magic secret belts from their waists and amulets from their throats and wrists. People were set free and praising God! The entire van load from Rayong got saved that night! The next Sunday, we picked up over 25 Cambodians for our new church and a church was born! PURCHASE UPDATE Praise God, by the 1st of Dec., our deadline, all the money was raised and wired to our account in Thailand. Our leadership team met at a food court to count up the cash from our Thai believers including a gold chain worth about 600 USD dollars one church member donated. They were praising God how He brought in all the money they promised to raise with a little extra! We called our lawyer to meet us at the land office. He told us that after we pay the landlord, the land office will take a month to review who we are as a foundation, and they have the right to deny us the right to buy the building for no reason. As we began to hear more from our lawyer, our team began to feel a lack of peace. We would have to give the landlady our money, and then trust that if we were turned down by the land authorities, she would be kind enough to give it back to us a month later. She was not willing to have the lawyer hold the money for a month, nor take a smaller amount. There is a saying in Thailand that once money leaves your hand you will not get it back. The lawyer said we could bring a case against her if she does not return the money, but it could take years and many legal fees. He also told us that there was a clause in the contract he just noticed that said that the government could give 30 days notice at any time, and take back our building/land, and not have to pay us anything for the cost of the building we bought. As we prayed and talked, we considered the hostile nature towards Christians in the news today, and that the Kings health is declining further and the future for Christians is somewhat unclear when he passes away. Spiritually, we wondered if there was significance in owning the land, instead of leasing land that is designated to a Buddhist government. After much prayer, we decided to ask the landlady how she would feel if we declined to buy. Would she return our 100,000 Baht deposit? Amazingly, she said yes and was not upset at all. She will get a higher price now than if she sold to us, and will return out deposit. So, currently, we are praying and fasting about a new building to buy. We have found one on the same main market street, with good public exposure and access, and it is a land purchase not a crown land lease. It is an older building with a lot of potential and a lot of work needed to make it ready for move in. We are not sure it is the one, but are walking through open doors that God gives us to ask the questions and see how He is leading us. It is about the same price as the last one. Thank you for giving to this church! We have been blessed and impressed by the believers as they gave and prayed and did their due diligence along the journey. We are unified in believing that God has a place for us where the land will be ours as well, and where God will be glorified and many will come to Christ! We will keep you updated in the New Year as things develop. We welcome any scripture or prophetic words for us to relay to our Thai team if God gives you something for us! Your friends in Christ, Karen and Ricky
