Lots of items on the agenda for Councils general meeting coming up this Tuesday at 7:30pm. Here are some of things we will be discussing: - Public Hearing for the proposed amendment to Boston Pizzas Liquor Primary License to increase the number of seats from 108 to 120 (old team room has been removed and seats incorporated into the lounge), as well as a staff report recommending Council support the amendment. - Presentation by Charla Kilback regarding closure of the Ranger Park Pre-School. - Information from RCMP Staff Sergeant Kirsten Marshall regarding the promotion process for the Smithers Detachment Commander Position and options the Town may consider regarding input into the process. - Staff report recommending 2014 Award of Excellence recipients (for new commercial, residential and mixed-use buildings). - Staff report requesting Council choose a location for development of an off-leash dog park and direct Staff to include water stations, garbage receptacles and bag dispensers in the 2015 Budget. - Staff report recommending Council create an Advisory Committee for Chandler Park field upgrades and appoint two Council members. - Staff report recommending award of the Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Contract to Northern Lites Technology Ltd. for $96,131,75 ( contract involves repairing service connections, leaking joints, and localized cracked pipe sections). - Staff report recommending a new sponsorship program to cover operating costs of public skating, parent and tot, and lunch hour shinny hockey programs. - Staff report requesting Council direct Staff to proceed with a new Solid Waste Collection Bylaw, and an additional report requesting that Council select the 2015 single family dwelling residential annual collection fee and direct Staff to proceed with the proposed new solid waste collection fees and charges bylaw. - Staff report regarding the Ranger Park Preschool Programs performance over the past five years and a comparison of the subsidization rate with that of youth hockey. - Staff report regarding options for relocating the perimeter trail from the closed section between Dogwood Park and Schibli Street. - Staff report providing the final proofs of heritage signs (Smithers Community Services Associations contribution to the CN EcoConnexions grant project) to be installed along the Railway Avenue Perimeter Trail. - Staff report regarding the purchase of pre-engineered, steel buildings for an Airport equipment/maintenance shop and storage for the Fire and Works departments. - Staff report regarding a residents request for driveway snow clearing. - Staff report introducing a zoning bylaw amendment that would permit the use of shipping containers in the Towns C3 zone. - Letter from the BV Child Development Centre requesting that Council approve the original rezoning application dated May 14, 2014, for property located at 1471 Columbia Drive, to rezone from Public Use Three (P3) to Public Use Two (P2), and include a definition for Child Development Centre. - Email from a resident requesting a sidewalk on 7th Avenue and/or 8th Avenue connecting Bulkley Drive to Columbia Street. - Email from a resident requesting a 4-way stop sign at the corner of Morice Drive and 7th Avenue. - Letter from St. Joes School requesting a long-term use agreement with the Town for property between St. Josephs field and Alfred Avenue. - Letter of support requests from Orchestra North, the Smithers Mountain Bike Association, and Midsummer Music Festival. - Letter from a local homeschooling mother requesting that Council donate the use of the Ranger Park facility for a new homeschooling group.
