Lots of people think that India is so poor because of overpopulation. If that were true, Hong Kong should be very poor too, as it has 20 times more people per square mile as India. But when a country has economic freedom, it is easy to start businesses, the country gives incentives with taxes, has decreased regulations and gives support to people who open businesses. In India, it takes months or years to start a new business. When Kentucky Fried Chicken wanted to open outlets, the Indian Parliament spent almost a year debating about it and finally blocked KFC from coming to India. According to the Heritage Foundation, here are the countries with the most economic freedom: 1. Hong Kong 2. Singapore 3. Luxembourg 4. New Zealand 5. Ireland 6. Denmark 7. Estonia and United States is #8.
