Lots of special moments, people and things happened at this last open garden at #Sophies Patch, as at every open garden, here and everywhere else. Diana Bickford from Bickleigh Vale Farm had a commitments elsewhere yesterday morning – teaching her ‘Seeds for Health’ course at the Fern Ave Community Garden. This is an activity of Adelaide’s Cancer Care Centre and is an organic, grass roots community garden program combining support, education and focus on health in a hands on, six week program designed to help people to produce their own organic ‘healthy’ food. A truly holistic experience - providing the opportunity to connect with nature and gain the important health benefits of relaxation, stress reduction & increased self-reliance along with a real sense of achievement, and experiencing the fun of great community garden spirit! So, Diana brought the ‘Seeds for Health’ group with her and these13 ladies joined the other lucky visitors at #SophiesPatch to hear Diana, joined by Annemarie Brookman from The Food Forest and Deb Cantrill from Nirvana Organic Farm talk about the value of compost to growing organic vegies.
