Lots of time spent today performing delicate surgery to knit the wood fibers and chips back together on the side of this Taylor 214. I used two brace jacks to spread the crack apart so I could get the bits to align. Then I used neodymium rare-earth magnets to pull the crack seam flat. Lowering the jack a little at a time, I aligned everything until the crack seam closed. Then 9 spool camps put compression pressure on the side crack. The inside is closed completely. There will only be a few small areas outside where filler is needed as some fibers are missing. I will need to make at least 2 (probably 3) side brace / graft patches to reinforce the inside. This is a dry run with no glue. I wanted to get the damage clamped up while the guitar is humidifying so that nothing warps. Once the Taylor is hydrated properly, I will glue it up. I should be able to touch up the outside and make the repair look good. Then this poor Taylor 214 still needs a top crack repair, and a neck reset with new NT Joint Shims. Lots to do. Mike
