Lots of updates but no internet all day until now. Im at the old house packing. I have good news, better news and BEST news! And a bunch of news that falls somewhere in those categories. 😀 Where to start...where to start... First and foremost and by far the BEST news -- I have a temporary place to stay as do my own dogs and the remaining shelter dogs! Thank you to the wonderful couple/family who most graciously have agreed to allow me to occupy a house theyve had sitting unoccupied at least until I can find a permanent residence. Ive gotten 3 pens set up over there and have lined the ground in one with patio squares but need enough to do the other 2 pens so the dogs arent in mud when it rains until I can get temporary covers over their pens. Have enough sheets of metal to fully cover the biggest pen, which is the one housing the mom and her 6 pups. I wont be able to erect more pens at this sure for now though so I am limited on how much I can do as a rescue/shelter for other dogs in need at this point, but I will do my best to do what I can until I am in a more permanent location. My friend Janet is allowing me to store boxes, etc., in the loft of her barn but need help getting the boxes/totes from the ground up the steps into the barn. Packing is coming along slowly but surely with progress being made every day. My friend Yvonne has allowed me to store some furniture, my deep freeze, mattresses, things I wont need at the new house, etc. her house and the other furniture items will be stored in a storage unit until I get the shed moved and have time for a yard sale. I am in negotiations with a 501(C)(3) group to see about merging with them and taking their name and eventually (next spring) living onsite on a 5-acre piece of property they own in Camden and running an animal sanctuary for them there -- in which case we would be able to help not only dogs but cats as well, with cat enclosures built to ensure the safety of the cats since not all dogs (as we all know) are cat friendly. Currently there is a primitive cabin on that property but no well or indoor plumbing. However, through joint efforts with this group, and contacts made at our spaghetti dinner, a gentleman who came to the dinner has found us a local well digging company willing to donate their services to dig the well for us! (Im not sure how quickly this will take place but contingent upon that and getting some excavation work done in that property, I will eventually move to Camden where I will be able to continue the work I started when I founded Death Row Doggies. Ill continue to help dogs in Weakley and Henry Counties and will expand to include Benton County as well. This may take years, but it will be done right -- No more dirt-floor pens for the dogs when this finally becomes a reality. So....lots of things in the world, lots of promising changes in the works, and lots to be thankful for. For now, I (and this Death Row Doggies) will keep our doors open and continue to provide for the remaining few shelter dogs and puppies in our care and help as best as I/we can with emergency situations/placements. Oh -- BTW, reception on my cell is very limited at the new house but there is a landline there and I will have internet. If you would like the number, please message me. I can usually still send/receive texts from out there in certain parts of the yard. More updates to come...but for now, back to packing! And thank you everyone who have keep me and our dogs in your prayers!
