Lotta colorblindness out there when it comes to Tex/jas... I - TopicsExpress

Lotta colorblindness out there when it comes to Tex/jas... I dont know how to shift over a conversation elsewhere with out creating havoc so I cut and pasted from Luis Marentes page because the basic gist of my pre election Halloween day/ Dia de Los Muertos eve rant applies outside the conversation...agree with Isolda basically. I would add to the donation list: lafuerzaunida.org/ & esperanzacenter.org/ At Esperanza, ck out La Voz and you might get an earful of grassroots politics from here and see our battlegrounds in San Antonio ...the latest (as of yesterdays City Council meeting) being an urban-rural coalition against spending poor peoples money on rich peoples water dealing set to destroy the hills around Bastrop ala LAs Owens Valley, more so than the fires did a couple years back... And I will rant further...because we are so sick of the east coast telling us what is going to happen-- well see-- the story spent two paragraphs actually following around the Wendy Davis blockwalkers... well Ive been walking those blocks, and believe (not as strongly perhaps as some folks) that Wendy may win. I am even more convinced that Leticia Van de Putte from San Antonios West Side, will be our first Latina Ltnt. Governor. (Her pharmacy is within shouting distance of where Louis Mendoza lived years ago if you were ever there and perhaps saw our Barrio Jungle mural... whoops--I wasnt done--just a point of emphasis and facebook terminates my message... Seriously, the pundits are doing no service to Tejas by predicting doom and writing us off. Meanwhile, Dolores Huerta was here last week as was Eva Longoria. I liked the observation that is attributed to Jeremy Byrd: Texas is not red. It is nonvoting... (We are in the upper 40s in voter turnout) That is what we are all trying to turn around, but you know what, it is damn hard to get people out when the nation thinks all of TX is Ted Cruz & Rick Perry...and youve just come home from 12 hours of hospital work (1/2 hr lunch break) and your daughter is helping your new mama dog give birth to a litter of seven, and you dont remember where you put your TX ID and youre damn tired and your poor circulation sores from being on your feet all day need attention, and so does the multi-generations of your family and your neighbor comes over on her way to the polls... And in the major cities we are blue, Im told. Maybe wed even be blue green--love that turquoise... if the Green Party follows leaders like Kat Swift... (they were back on the ballot in numbers this year and I voted for them where I could ...) I know this color wheel is reflects past votes in San Antonio and Austin, and the Valley was as high for Obama as DC was, I believe. There are lots of money bags and loose canons and who knows what else that are obstacles in the road to purpledom, but we could use a little cheering for us along the way... Just now · Like ps Seriously--you need to take Leticia Van de Putte seriously--Dan Patrick is running against her, which is enough reason to get out & vote for her, but I have been impressed with her outside as well as inside of politics. And she is very relevant because of her experience in healthcare--running a pharmacy that is well respected in the heart of the West Side. (I acquiesce to calling Guadalupe St. the heart even though it makes me wonder what other spots are then--like I think I live on the liver, or maybe the lengua....Call every possibly forward thinking if not progressive person you know in TX and tell them to vote. Same thing in KS, btw--the pundits have even recognized what is occurring there. People dont keep going back for the kind of crap these so called political leaders have been doling out...
