Louis van Gaal will be in constant contact with Manchester United throughout the World Cup, and van Gaal has daily briefings with Ryan Giggs and Ed Woodward. Van Gaal is determined to hit the ground running and is in regular contact with Woodward about how transfer targets are progressing. Van Gaal is also being guided by Giggs about the weaknesses of the squad he will inherit and whether there are players coming through the youth system that he should promote into the first-team squad.
