Louise gets it. Its one of the things that make her beautiful- My wheels have been spinning on the topic of self-reliance, lately. I have been thinking about how the welfare State is responsible not only for the lack of savings and huge debts many have had to take on just to live in modern society, but also for a growing number of people losing the ability to be self-reliant. If the government creates the conditions where there is very little or no economic growth, then it is also responsible for destroying our capacity to find opportunities. As a result, many must turn to handouts from charities or worse, government programs. Can we really blame them when their options are zero? There will always be a small segment of society that wants to loot the productive, but most do not. They want opportunities, that unfortunately are getting more and more impossible to find. This should give them more incentive to fight the welfare State that has essentially tied their hands and made them slaves. We have a right to life, but what happens when your ability to exist (subsist) disappears? Here is where we see just how immoral the Welfare State really is with its monetary policies and intervention into the economy. Without a healthy economy, meaning, a free market, some men will be forced to be parasites on others.
