Love Deryn Cullens new recording of Rachmaninov. This has to be one of my favourite cello sonatas and I was reminded of one of the first recordings I heard of this movement by Raphael Sommer. Raphael was the son of Alice Sommer-Hertz. Sadly he died far too young and there are very few recordings of his available now. He was Corinne Morriss teacher, and Corinne shared this recording with me. The recording quality could be better but I love his playing. Just a shame the rest of the sonata is not available.
