Love How does one accurately describe it? How do we know when we’re in it? Can it be defined, or quantified? Seemingly, love is without form or boundary, and as such cannot be captured, examined or studied. Yet it appears in many forms, to many people, from the sublime to the nebulous. It is invisible, yet obvious, intangible, yet we can feel it. The greatest gift perhaps, often times dangled in front of us just out of reach, beckoning yet taunting. Why do we pursue it so? Why are we so compelled to have it? An emotional need, perhaps physical as well? Is love one dimensional or multi faceted? For certain its meaning varies greatly depending on the individual. For me, it sometimes borders on the obsessive. Clearly when I’m in love I cannot get her out my mind, day or night. But the truth is I love being in it. Spending my days longing for her is not only time well spent, it’s how I want to live. We’re fused as one, physically and mentally, playing to each other as if being directed by some omnipotent, preponderant manipulator. If we’re lucky, we’ve had the good fortune to experience it. If not, there’s always hope; the future perhaps. To live your life without this is a mistake I believe, a life misdirected, misguided; indeed dare I say wasted. Our purpose is to love and be loved, of this I am certain. It is obtainable though, and quite possible; but you must be emotionally available should the opportunity presents itself. Listen to your heart I say, to your mind, and all of your senses. You’ll know when it’s there, crashing over and through you like an ocean wave. Overwhelming for certain, but fear not its power. Surrender to it you must, completely and totally; and hold nothing in reserve. For then and only then may you experience its true meaning and magnificence. Let love take you then, overpower and overwhelm you. Offer no resistance and you will experience joy beyond measure. For only in this way can we truly experience life as it was meant to be.
