Love Left Me Broken With eloquence she spoke Telling me her beautiful tragic story I don’t think she was trying to be frightening But rather a warning with an undertone of inviting She told of how he swept her off her feet Made her knees go weak She had blurred speech Only finding herself with deep breathes she’d take With every sentence she’d speak “You see, he understood me Not trying to fix or replace Just accepting the person he met that day In that ordinary place You see, love left me broken But he had the key to get my heart open Love left me broken So when he said he’d marry me? I thought he was just joking My previous love, had left me hurt and ashamed I searched for someone to blame But to no avail Only now after I’ve worn my veil I thank The Lord for all the fails The pain and shame All glory goes to His name” I smile every time she tells the tale Since I met mine I listen to it almost everyday I wonder if my journey Will pan out that way Of course he has his own version Not as interesting as hers And some of his facts need assertion Unlike their story, on love they do agree Almost like a special creed “True love, is loving a he or she So much that it scares you Almost as much as the power That comes from He Who created you and me”
