Love and compassion is our true nature, but when it is covered up - TopicsExpress

Love and compassion is our true nature, but when it is covered up by a fearful ego, it is like dark clouds covering the sun, and all sorts of warfare and conflict then occur, on a personal level, between individuals and also globally. This is what we are seeing in many places in the world at the moment. The biggest tragedy by far, is how the children suffer on all sides of the conflict. The children of peaceful nations who are watching this happen, also suffer and become fearful. Can we not strive to work on our own personal share of ego, for the sake of all children everywhere? Perhaps the most vital question is.. are we able to remain compassionate towards those souls who can no longer feel their own compassion and instead wreak havoc on others? Or do we get drawn in and lose our compassion for certain individuals or groups of people? If so, perhaps we are part of the problem? Blame and anger are not helpful, because they merely strengthen the ego, and perpetuate & escalate conflict, like fuel on a fire. I see awareness and consciousness of ourselves as the answer. Perhaps gentle compassion FOR ourselves, as well as those we do not wish to feel compassion towards, is more important than we realise?
